The Six Main Reasons to Oppose the Death Penalty

4.) Capital Punishment is NOT a Deterrent to Crime

5.) The Death Penalty is “Cruel and Unusual Punishment”

6.) Capital Punishment Costs More Than Life in Prison Without Parole

Never knew 6 before.  Combining it with 4 reveals that the death penalty is largely a symbolic ritual.  Considering 1, 2, and 3, one must wonder what the death penalty symbolizes.
